THE GARY PLAYGROUND INITIATIVE

We need your help to raise $275,000 to build the first of six playgrounds for kids in Gary, Indiana!

THE PEOPLE

NOW, more than ever, kids in Gary need a place to play! Playground equipment is old, outdated and have not been maintained for decades.

Kidstuff Playsystems, Inc., an IPEMA-certified manufacturer of state-of-the art playground equipment, has been in business in the city of Gary for 38 years. Having completed a survey of Gary's parks and playgrounds Kidstuff owner Richard Hagelberg decided to take action and do good by developing the Gary Playground initiative.

THE PLAYGROUND

The goal of this initiative is to build a state of the art playground in each of Gary's six districts by 2026. After partnering with Force for Good to serve as the fiscal agent for this initiative, Richard secured the support of local leadership and community residents to launch the first campaign to build a new playground in the northwest area of the city.

All play equipment proposed exceeds the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as it relates to playgrounds and playground equipment. Kidstuff Playsystems, Inc. is proposing a playsystem for ages 5-12 that accommodates 50 children and includes a wheelchair ramp. It further proposes a smaller playsystem for children ages 2-5 to accommodate 20 children. Swings including a full-body accessible swing seat are also proposed. Safety surfacing proposed is state-of-the-art poured in place rubber surfacing.

Kidstuff Playsystems, Inc has pledged a lead gift of $50,000!

These dollars will be used to provide 10 years of maintenance to the playground.
